Phuket Island
Phuket is Thailand's largest island, located in south-east part of Thailand, 48 km long and 21 km wide (in the middle part of the island). Phuket is connected to the mainland by two bridges, the Sarasin bridges, which are found on the north tip of the island. About 30 minutes car drive from the bridge is Phuket international airport and another 40 minutes to an hour drive you will get to the tourist areas.

Phuket is divided in the middle by a mountain range where it is gently sloping in the north and south and with the highest peak in the middle. On the easterna side of the island, Phuket Town is located. Phuket Town and further south; Chalong bay, it is a small town with a tourist pier from where most diveboats leave for daytrips or liveaboards. Crossing the mountain from Chalong bay to the other side, you will come to Kata Beach, Karon Beach and Patong Beach. These are the main tourist areas. Other and more quieter places than the above mentioned are Kata Noi, also called Kata Thani, and Kamala beach, further up on the west coast side of Phuket you find Surin and other smaller towns.

Phuket offers a a great range for the vacation. You can rent a car, go out on a liveaboard and a lots of activities for the grown and the young ones.
